Discover & Go for Free to the Museum of Us (& Cannibal exhibit) in Balboa Park

A fun attraction that you can experience is in one of San Diego's most popular locations - Balboa Park. It is home to many museums, gardens & some restaurants. Within this park, you can access many fun museums and a popular one is the Museum of Us (previously called the Museum of Man). The Museum of Us is connected to the Cannibals exit which resides across the street. If you are a San Diego resident with a valid San Diego addressed ID, you can get a local public library card and access activities more.

How to Access

Each month at midnight the Discover & Go will refresh with more or less items. Every month is different. Check out my Discover & Go instructions for how to sign up and access.

After booking your date, head on down to the museum on the selected date. You can bring up to 3 adults (we experienced that they will allow it), and children (not sure how many, we didn't bring kids).

Tip:

• Screenshot the tickets - prevents from using data

• Good walking shoes - if you plan for more in one day or on Free Resident's Tuesday (check out blog), you'll be walking a lot

• Backpack/ bag - fill with snacks & drinks

• Hat - it can get sunny

• Picnic blanket in car - if you are done and want to hang out, have a picnic

• Save the receipt - good for a year

Review

I love museums the most when they are interactive. I do not like just staring at things. This is a good combo and doubled because the Cannibal exhibit across the street is more interactive than the Museum of Us. There is a lot to read and the Museum of Us is geared toward humanity, diversity and evolution and the Cannibal exhibit focus on (you guessed it), history and fun facts about cannibalism.

To me this is more adult oriented but kids will sure have fun. I loved learning how weird humans were and are. I encourage you to try this place using Discover & Go to go for free and use a day to learn in a fun way.
